Writing Prompts for the First Week of School

August 7, 2015

The use of a daily writing journal is an effective strategy for helping students become more comfortable with writing.
Students are given the expectations for following established writing structures, but the writing journal also gives students the chance to write on topics of their own choice.
Some students may require some prewriting encouragement, or writing prompts to get them started.
This slide presentation provides the students with some writing prompts and the choice to write on their own topic.
They are also encouraged to add illustrations.
