summary

Summarizing can be difficult for students. They seem to have difficulty determining the difference between what is an important detail and what is not important. They want to include all of the details.
This Thinglink includes: summary tutorials, reading passages, stories to summarize, and graphic organizers.
One of my favorite stories about friendship is Hopper and Wilson by Maria Van Lieshout. I created a Quizlet that has a sample of a passage from this delightful book. Students can be asked to use the Somebody, Wants, But, So summary strategy to summarize the passage.
