Cowboy/Fractured Fairy Tale Task Menu

February 8, 2010

The rodeo comes to San Antonio, Texas in February. It brings with it a ton of cowboy fun for reading and writing.
There are numerous fractured fairy tales that have a western theme. Children love to compare and contrast the original fairy tales with the fractured western versions. They are great mentor texts for writing.
The Cowboy Task Menu includes tasks from previous menus. Students are now getting more independent in completely these tasks independently.
New tasks will be introduced in the Spring Task Menu.
Click on Cowboy Task Menu for nine differentiated tasks that can be completed during station time.
Click on word bank for cowboy vocabulary that can be used with the task menu. It can also be used as a resource for independent writing.
Click on Task 2 for a readers theater entitled The Cowboy Who Cried Coyote.
Click on TASK 5 for Free Choice activities.
Click on Task Cards for the nine task directions to place in each station.
